MACC: “We don’t have CCTV in our premise/building.”
Police: “We’ve obtain the CCTV footage from the building.”

MACC: “We don’t have Teoh’s mobile phone.”
Police “We’ve seized Teoh Beng Hock’s mobile phone from the anti-corruption investigating officer.”

MACC: “Teoh was released at 3:45am, his next interrogation session is 8:00am.”
Police: “Teoh died around 8:30am to 9:30am.”

The mobile phone would have been returned to him if he had been released, my guess is, Teoh was not released. Why lie when you’ve got nothing to hide?

For once, I couldn’t agree more with Dr.Mahathir Mohamad in the teaching of maths and science in English. Let’s face it, the language of science and maths is none other than english. Mandarin, Nippon-Go (Japanese), German and all the other languages will never substitute English in many more years to come, and that is a fact.

It is not about trying to learn English, it’s not about trying to learn Malay. It’s simply just an acknowledgment of the fact that today’s knowledge comes to us in the English language. Just as in the past, Arabs, when they became Muslims, studied Greek in order to acquire the knowledge of the Greeks and subsequently the Europeans from the dark ages studied Arabic in order to acquire the knowledge of the Arabs.

Today, the knowledge is with people who write in English. And for that reason, we want to learn English to acquire the knowledge, not just to learn English.

I had this debate with a friend of mine, his concern was the lack of Basic English command by the rural kids that is hindering them from learning, it’s like taking one step forward and being pushed two steps backwards. Most of the kids from the rural area are not exposed to the English language until they enter standard 3, or was it standard 1? Perhaps the answer to the problem is to introduce English classes during kindergarten together with science and maths in English.

Let’s face it; language is not something we can learn over night, not in a month, not even in 5 years. It is something we learn when we are young because our brain is technically empty, thus making absorbing new language much more easily.

Chinese, Malay and Tamil educationist believes that by introducing more English classes is the key to the problem, truth is, they knew very well in their heart the answer is none other than to teach science and maths in English. Just look at them, how many of these rich Chinese tycoon actually send their children to the full fledged Mandarin college – The New Era College? How many of them send their children to a university in China or Taiwan? Don’t all of them pamper their kids with world class education in America, Australia and Britain? Even when they are back in Malaysia, most of them send their Children to private international school, don’t they?

It’s like a commander demanding everyone to take up arms against the enemy whereas the commander forbids his own children from participating, let alone be seen anywhere near the battle field. They told us to march forward towards the front line, to die in the name of nationalism, racism, and whatnot, ironically they forbids their children from participating.

Some say it is because of the Mandarin language’s simplicity that allows those in Chinese school to count faster; therefore the language for maths is Mandarin. Doesn’t seems right to me, maths is not just about solving equations, well, on a micro point of view it is about solving problems, but to say the language enable the student to count faster is simply ridiculous. Take a look the entire Nobel Prize winner, new discover, new technique and literature, are they all not from the western world? Not to mention most of their papers are written in English or in some European language? Without a good command in English, accessing these information is not possible, even if we have basic command of English, we may not fully understand its meaning, this can be seen with the Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese society where they rely heavily on new discovery and theories by westerners. Rockets, Radar, Nuclear, Planes, Satellite, Jet Engines, GPS, and not to mention computer software and hardware and many more.

It is time to walk the talk, don’t talk cock!
