OGA 2300 Series Wooden Temples By Morel France

When it comes to wood, or any object made out of wood, I simply couldn’t resist. That’s my weakness. The OGA 2300 Series is available in three cultivated woods: walnut (dark brown), bubenga (red-brown) and sycamore (ivory). I bought the bubenga edition (image above).

These outstanding frames with wooden and “synthetic glass” temples are a veritable technological feat in a pure designer and modern style. The temples give the impression of a material so homogeneous that nature could have created it.

The frame itself cost about RM1200 (USD350) excluding lenses, which comes to about RM1500 before discount. Anyway, I think it is a good buy. Love the wooden temples, come on, it is made of wood, how can I resist?

p.s. I love the New Bentley Mulsanne, look at the wooden dashboard. Am a sucker for anything made out of wood.

The OGA 2300 looks really nice. But if it is made of real wood, do you need some special maintainence, like putting oil or wax on it to prevent cracking or discoloring?

Where did you get yours at? I would really like to find them online somewhere. The only store in my area that sells them marked them up to $650!

    Thanks for the info.

I got a pair of 2300′s. Brown/Bronze coloured frames with natural wood finish arms.

The surface treatment on the wooden arms rubs off EXTREMELY easily. I dashed through some light rain the other day, and every place that a drop of water touched the wooden arms left a mark. It looks like missing polish. I’m very disappointed. I have a replacement pair coming, but I doubt it will solve the problem.

I thought for the huge amount of money these cost, OGA would at least use a wood treatment and polish that could withstand a drop of water! Every other wood surface I’m aware of can.

for one thing, you must use linseed oil regularly to protect the wood==secondly, i am planning on getting a pair and the cheapest i can find is around 450 dollars (us)…

I am interested in buying these. Did anyone else have problems with water damaging the frame?

I just ordered a pair of these two days ago. They are freaking awesome! I found them in a fairly high-end, locally owned eyeglass shop that sells many unique frames. I am waiting with bated breath for them to come in (they say it’ll take 7-10 days). Do you still wear yours? Any problems thus far? The owner of the shop told me I could stop in anytime I like and he would treat the wooden temples with Oga brand linseed oil. How do you like yours? Ever had any problems with rain getting on them?

P.S. For those of you who are curious: I got mine at a shop called “The Eye Site” in Mishawaka, Indiana. While I do have good insurance, my plan, unfortunately, does not cover vision (damn it) so they cost me $609. This included a friendly 20% discount since my insurance didn’t cover anything. So yes, they are expensive. But they’re going to be a permanent part of my face, and I love them, so I sure hope they’re worth the money.

I have had mine for a couple of weeks now. I really like them. I’ve got the Altra frames which have two metal strips in them. Very stylish and comfy. I’ve been caught out in the rain with them. No rubbing off of finish or anything like what was mentioned.
