Bought the all new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (a.k.a The Tube) when it was launched three week ago, one word to describe this smart phone – it is worth every single cent invested. Some of the amazing features are GPS, WiFi, 3.2 Carl Zeiss lens, FM Radio, Touch Screen, 1000 free songs (who needs that? ever heard of bittorrent?) and the 16 million colour screen – the best and the sharpest screen for a phone in the market.
The only drawback is the somewhat sluggish touch screen response. Another drawback is the ringtone format where only .aac files are accepted, there is way to work around this without any hacking or software, visit the following link for the simple solution – convert mp3 to Nokia 5800 Ringtone aac format. As for the radio function, the reception is really terrible thus causing ‘wave’ like sound interrupting the radio playback when the signal is weak. The weak radio reception is really annoying, especially when I am walking while listening to the radio. Overall, Nokia 5800 is a good solid phone, highly recommended by me.
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is powered by Symbian S60, download free Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Symbian Applications here, its free.
For your information, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is priced at RM1499 from the original dealer Zitron, am not sure about the price for an AP model, usually they are 200 ringgit less than the original. Read here for more info on the difference between original set and an AP set mobile phone?
p.s. Another cool and unique feature missing in all touch screen smart phone is a physical keypad, Nokia found a way around the lack of physical touch when it comes to typing SMS by introducing ‘little vibration’ in every touch, amazing! Apple iPhone has something to learn from Nokia albeit it is Nokia that stole the whole Touch Screen phone idea from Apple.

on February 5th, 2009Don’t buy Nokia 5800 yet. It is frustrating to see that the NOkia 5800 is NOT suported by Nokia OVI and other programs created by NOKIA itself !!

on February 5th, 2009@Ricardo – What do you mean by not supported? Am using Nokia OVI for music, photo and file transfer. The installation file comes with a CD in the box.
