Canon IXUS 300HS – Best Compact Camera For Low Lighting Conditions
June 11th, 2010 | Category: Photography
It is official, the wait is over. I’ve just bought myself a Canon IXUS 300 HS, took some photos with it in a room with one fluorescent during night time and the image is bright as daytime. Unlike previous generation, the IXUS 300 HS uses a relatively new technology.

HS stands for High Sensitivity, as the name implies, the IXUS 300 HS features a new 10.0 Megapixel High Sensitivity CMOS sensor with DiG!C 4 Image processor, offering the highest image quality available, this helps capture those wonderful memories in low light conditions and helps reduce noise at high ISO speeds. The IXUS 300 HS also features an f/2.0 lens.
HS + f/2.0 + ISO 3200 + CMOS Sensor + DiG!C 4 = Best digital camera for low lighting conditions such as indoor.

Sample shot of a photo taken with Canon IXUS 300 HS under a low lighting condition (only 2 light source during night time) with High Sensitivity mode. In HS mode, the maximum resolution is 2.5MP. The advantage of this feature is definitely not the sharpness but the ability to avoid blurriness with somewhat grainy image.

on September 6th, 2010I am seriously considering the same model, my biggest gripe with my current camera is the time it takes to actually take the picture once I have pressed the button. Have you noticed any lag?
